New Year, New You - Orem Library

The Orem Library has teamed up with Julia Iverson from Utah State University's Extension Food $ense Program to bring a four-week series on food, cooking, and budgeting to the community. Individuals and families are invited to attend, and recipes and samples will be provided at each event. All events start at 7pm in the storytelling wing.

January 12th: Menu Planning

January 19th: Watch Your Fats
Trans-fats, monounsaturated, saturated, polyunsaturated, hydrogenated fat: what does it all mean? Master the nutrition label with the Utah State University’s Food $ense Program.  You’ll learn about which fats to use, which ones to avoid, and how to limit fats, sugar and salt in home cooked meals. Recipes and food samples will be available as part of the program.

January 26th: Grains Lesson
Some popular fad diets suggest minimizing or even eliminating this important food group, but grains contain essential nutrients vital for optimal health and weight loss. Join Utah State University’s Food $ense program to learn all about grains—how much is enough and which ones give you the most bang for your buck.  Recipes and food samples will be available as part of the program.
