First Friday Art Stroll - Historic 25th in Ogden

The heart of Ogden is found in its rich cultural heritage and in its art.
The face of the arts within this community is constantly evolving.  This fact is evidenced through its many gallery exhibits, literary offerings, innumerable scheduled and impromptu live art performances, a growing collection of public art and a variety of cultural, film and arts festivals and markets.

Held the first Friday of the month from 6-9 PM, Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll is abuzz year ‘round with exciting exhibit openings, artist receptions and live music of all genres in venues and in the streets. As the art stroll becomes the virtual front porch of Ogden, those that venture here are treated to great art, an atmosphere of camaraderie and inclusion and amazing night life; small town feel, big city offerings.

Art gives shape to Ogden’s urban fabric. Since 1993, Ogden has proudly supported this endeavor with its 1 percent for Art program. At the back of this guide you’ll find a listing to the Public Art of Ogden. Plan a day of discovery. Chart a course directly to your favorite places. Or, keep this guide with you for a leisurely chance encounter.

Enjoy your journey. We hope you are inspired, delighted and challenged along the way.

Here are a few interesting and fun articles I found about Utah. Browse through the archives, type in a few key words, and let me know what cool articles you find! Leave a comment on this post:

REVIEW: Park City Ghost Tours

Our field experts, Chad and Jen, had the opportunity to check out a really cool attraction called "Park City Ghost Tours". After watching their video (posted below) and hearing about it from them, I can't WAIT to go on a tour! Who wants to come with?!?! It's even suitable for children!

UPDATE: I went with my hubby and best friend to check it out, and walked away with a few pictures that have a few cloudy looking things in them! Check them out below after the video, and see what you think!

Here is what Chad had to say about his experience on the Park City Ghost Tour:

"My experience with Park City Ghost Tours was so much fun.  I had a difficult time finding a place to park but that was mostly because of my lack of familiarity with the town.  Luckily I found the China Bridge parking structure and it was free to park in.  I met up with Hutch at the bronze miners statue at Miners Park.  He was very easy to find and it is a great meeting place with public restrooms to use before the tour started.

Hutch was an amazing guide.  He is very friendly and knowledgeable about the dark past of Park City when it was a wild mining town.  He walked us up and down Main Street and pointed out the buildings that he knew were haunted.  At every building he went into extreme detail about the exact rooms that are haunted, who the people were that are doing the haunting, and how they died that have left them to haunt the living.  Hutch had many stories about his personal experience with ghosts in some of these buildings and they are very bone chilling stories. (I could share them but I feel you need to have him tell you in person).  A few of the buildings that had stories behind them were vacant, and that just added to the mystery.  One place that we stopped at, Hutch pulled out a tool that is used in ghost hunting and explained how it works and we used it.  We didn't have any luck but he explained that at that spot it only shows sign of a spirit about 30% of the time.

Hutch was one of, if not the best, tour guide I have ever had.  He has trivia questions that he asks during the tour that just add to the enjoyment.  He was very personal and remembered almost every person's name.  One of the ladies in the group got cold and he offered the coat off his back, even though it was snowing the entire time.  He offered his gloves to Jen when he saw she was not wearing any, and she didn't even say anything about her hands being cold.  He did such a great job entertaining everyone during the tour that most of the people went out on the town with him after.  For everyone that was not following him after he offered tips for places to go that would make the Saturday night enjoyable for them.

I really enjoyed the tour I got from Hutch.  The only regrets I have are that I didn't take this tour a long time ago, and that I had to get home and could not continue the night with Hutch and the other people on the tour.

With such an amazing tour just a very short drive from Salt Lake, I strongly suggest:
  • Anyone that lives or visits to put this on the top of their list of things to do.
  • Just remember that Park City is a mountain ski town and the tour is outdoors so dress accordingly.  If you are not warm it would be more difficult to enjoy this amazing time.
  • Don't forget your cameras! Hutch encourages many pictures and asks that if you catch any orbs or unexplained things in your pictures to show everyone to add to the experience."
Thanks Chad and Jen for checking out this awesome tour! If you would like them to check out your event or attraction, email contact@enjoyutah.org.

A special thanks to Erik "Hutch" Hutchins with Park City Ghost Tours for this amazing opportunity, and for being such a great tour guide and sharing your knowledge with the rest of us!

Radio Gold Hour

Go back to a time where entertainment was heard not seen, back to the “theater of the mind” during the golden age of radio.

Each week The Radio Gold Hour will take you back to the classic radio drama’s, comedies, and mysteries of the 1930’s,40’s and 50’s. We are not rebroadcasting the old shows, we are producing re-enactments of the classic shows, along side original content and current events just like entertainment from the golden age of radio.

Each week we bring a new episode with talented voice actors and production crew, dedicated to preserving interest in Old Time radio entertainment. The Radio Gold Hour is fun and entertaining.

After a week off, The Radio Gold Hour will have another show recorded Thursday February 24th at the Main Street Theatre in Midvale. Come down and bring your friends and family. Kids from 7 years and up have liked our show, your might too! This show will be especially fun because one of the funniest guys I know, Al Lampkin, will be performing in it!

Call the Midvale Theatre Box Office at 801-566-0596 for reservations.

NEW WAY To View Free Events

We have a new way for you to view the free upcoming events!

Instead of posting it every Sunday afternoon like we have been, we have created a FREE EVENTS PAGE. This will be an ongoing list of free events for the following week. So if today was Tuesday, the free events from today until next Tuesday are listed, if today is Wednesday, then the free events from today until next Wednesday are listed.

There will still be a button to click on under "Featured Posts" to the free events, and it will also be listed under the pages.

We hope that being able to see a week ahead will help you find more free events than just Sunday to Sunday.

As always, give us any feedback that you think will help us improve how you view and find fun events!
