Our Fall "Must Do" List
Posted by
Michelle P.

Thursday, September 29, 2011
Fall is our favorite time of year in our family, and there are a few things that we HAVE TO DO in Fall that we don't make a priority the rest of the year. Here is our list of "must do" for the Fall season:

- Buy and eat tons of "monster cereal" (FrankenBerry, CountChocula, and BooBerry). This is the only time of year we buy this cereal, and it makes the Halloween season that much more fun!
- Square Pumpkins from Arctic Circle. We love getting square pumpkins during Halloween time! As soon as we see the marquee go up that they are available, we get excited to see what Halloween toy they have this year!
- Watch all of the family-friendly Halloween or "spooky" movies we can get our hands on. Movies at the top of our list include Gremlins, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, and Labyrinth.
- Take a drive to see the Fall leaves, and collect a few for a centerpiece in our house. A few of our favorite places to see the leaves include Emigration Canyon, and by Cascade Springs. A fun time to do this is during the Homestead Scarecrow Festival! We take the Alpine Loop, stop at Cascade Springs, follow the loop around to Midway and Heber, then stop at The Homestead for lunch/dinner and to see the scarecrows!
- Find cool graves in a cemetery, or visit a ghost town. This is such a fun and cool photo opportunity! Use online photo editing software to create cool effects!
- Visit the witches and all of the other fun things going on at Gardner Village. For us, the Halloween season doesn't really start until we've done the scavenger hunt!
What are some of YOUR "must do" things for Fall? Leave a comment on this post and let us know what you love doing that separates Fall from any other time of year.

See one of our best community events ever.
Sunday, Oct. 2 at 7pm on ABC
The world will witness the power of community. Our community. Happening at Daybreak Utah.
Tune in to see some familiar faces, to see remarkable teamwork, and to see an amazing home get completed in less than a week. But mostly, to see how dramatically the lives of the Gomez family have been changed for the better.
Being chosen as the site of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is an honor and a rare opportunity. We at Rio Tinto, Holmes Homes, and the entire Daybreak community in Utah are excited to have had this experience. And we thank everyone who made it possible.
Together we made a difference in the lives of a deserving family while calling attention to the importance of bone marrow donorship. By helping one family on a national stage we bring hope to thousands of others.
So be sure to watch.

The Circus Was A BLAST!

We went to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey "Fully Charged" Circus last night, and it was a blast! September 22nd is also Elephant Appreciation Day, so it was extra special to get to see the elephants perform and learn what magnificent creatures they are!
My kids really like the part of the circus where the two guys were on the rotating cages, and they were running and jumping inside and outside the cages. I am not really sure of all of the tricks they did, because I had my eyes closed most of the time! It was magnificent!
We were also amazed at the "fire man", who was lit on fire, then catapulted across the arena, unharmed! My kids were so concerned if he was okay, and cheered loudly when he jumped out, fire put out, and waved at the crowd!
The trapeze tricks are always a favorite, as are the cute tricks the elephants, horses, and tigers perform.
If you haven't yet purchased tickets, you can still buy them on the Ringling website, or through the Energy Solutions Arena. You can also contact Steve Nord with the Energy Solutions Arena at 801-350-6928 to see what kind of discount tickets he can dig up! (Make sure you tell him that Michelle from Enjoy Utah! sent you to him!)
A special thanks to Lulu Hart with Feld Entertainment and www.Ringling.com for providing us with tickets to the show, as well as tickets to give away to our readers!

FoundIt! Deal For Enjoy Utah Readers!

FoundIt! is a great new service that helps you have that peace of mind that if/when you lose something you don't want to lose (your keys, cell phone, laptop, camera, etc.), it has a better chance of returning to you quickly and safely.
You can get a 30% discount on one of their packages now until October 15th. Just use code ENJOYUT at checkout!
Here's how it works:
One thing that stood out to me when I attached a sticker to my cell phone:
I have always worried about if I were to get in an accident or fall and hit my head while hiking, how would somebody contact my family? My cell phone has a lock on it that only I know the pass code to. I have ICE (In Case Of Emergency) numbers programmed in my cell phone, but how are emergency responders going to notify my family, or even know who I am, without access to my cell phone's pass code? On my FoundIt profile, I entered my hubby's cell #, so he will also receive notifications. Now I don't have to worry about if they are able to access my cell phone or not: they have my Found It ID!
I also love that their plans are affordable!
Disclaimer: I received a subscription to the FoundIt! service to review this product, but all of the opinions in this review are my own, and I was not paid to give a review. I was not required to give a good review, only an honest review of what I thought of this service.

You can get a 30% discount on one of their packages now until October 15th. Just use code ENJOYUT at checkout!
Here's how it works:
- Go to the FoundIt website and sign up for one of their many affordable packages. Use checkout code "EnjoyUtah" to receive a discount!
- Shortly after signing up, you receive stickers, key chain tags, luggage tags, etc. in the mail. They have your unique ID already printed on them.
- Attach these to anything and everything you want to make sure returns back to you should it ever get lost. (I have attached mine to my keys, day planner, laptop, camera, cell phone, flip camera, purse, and wallet. I am sure I will think of many more things to attach them to as I look around.)
- Go on with your merry life! If one of your items gets lost, and somebody finds it, they will see the "FoundIt" tag attached to it. They will then text or go online, enter your unique ID, and you will be notified that your item has been found and who you can contact to pick it up. (FoundIt also gives you great safety tips when picking up or sending a lost item. Safety first!)
- At this point you will be so thrilled that you signed up for the FoundIt! service, that you will want to share this information with everybody and anybody you know!

Children's Miracle
Network Hospitals to Launch 24-Hour Video Game Marathon to Raise Funds for Local
Children's Hospitals
Extra Life marathon
inspired by 15-year-old Victoria Enmon, a young gamer who passed away from
leukemia
SALT LAKE
CITY
(Sept. 19, 2011) - Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® (CMNHospitals.org), a charity that raises
funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America, will launch its 24-hour
video game fundraising marathon called Extra Life on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 8
a.m. local time. The Extra Life Marathon was created to honor the late Victoria
(Tori) Enmon, a 15-year-old girl who played video games during her battle with
acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Each Extra Life
participant is asked to raise money by recruiting at least four sponsors to give
a minimum of $1 for each hour of the marathon. This equates to just $24 per
sponsor. Individuals can play any game they choose - including those on their
phone, computer or even board games - and can participate in the marathon from
their own homes or create or join groups and play from any location of their
choosing. Each donation stays in the community where it was given to benefit the
local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Individuals can sign up to
participate and can donate to the cause at www.extra-life.org.
"As the largest
children's hospital charity, treating one in nine kids in North America, we have
the opportunity to truly make a difference through life-changing fundraisers
like Extra Life," said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children's Miracle
Network Hospitals. "Extra Life carries on Tori's legacy, as it inspires
individuals to join together to save the lives of children in our local
communities."
Gamers are encouraged
to take breaks throughout the marathon and to implement any applicable safety
measures. If an individual is unable to play the full 24 hours on Oct. 15, he or
she can make up the time later or even play before the official launch.
Gamers have an
additional opportunity to participate in the cause. Xbox 360 will host its
Gaming and Giving for Good (G3) Xbox Live charity on Saturday, Oct. 1, to
benefit Extra Life. G3 will harness the power of millions of members on Xbox
LIVE, the online entertainment network for Xbox 360. As part of the event, all
participants who register at Xbox.com/g3 will receive a free Xbox LIVE Gold
Membership for the weekend to play their favorite games. Xbox LIVE Gold allows
users to play games online with friends and family and receive exclusive
discounts on Xbox LIVE content.
For more information or
to participate in the Extra Life cause, visit www.extra-life.org or www.CMNHospitals.org.

About Extra
Life
Extra Life (http://www.extra-life.org) was founded in
2008 by Jeromy Adams, known as "Sarcastic Gamer" (www.sarcasticgamer.com) in the video
gaming community. The Sarcastic Gamer Community included participation from
Victoria (Tori) Enmon, a 15-year-old girl, who was not only passionate about
video gaming but was using this hobby to give her strength to fight three bouts
of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Tori's battle inspired the Sarcastic Gamer
Community to send her video games and gifts to keep up her spirits despite
numerous hospital stays. Following Tori's passing later that year, an annual
Extra Life Marathon was launched and is now an official Children's Miracle
Network Hospitals campaign to raise money for local children's hospitals to help
save the lives of other children.
About
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
Children's
Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds for 170 children's hospitals across the
United States and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it's needed the
most. When a donation is given, it stays in the community, helping local kids.
Since 1983, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4.4
billion, most of it $1 at a time. These
donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment and pay
for uncompensated care, all in support of our mission to save and improve the
lives of as many children as possible. Learn more at www.CMNHospitals.org.
