Worried about the "end of the world"? Learn all about the Mayan calendar at the Clark Planetarium TONIGHT!

Are you curious about the Mayan calendar and the meaning behind it? Why did they stop their calendar on December 21st, 2012? Join us for our quarterly lecture series Night School on November 8 from 7 – 8 p.m. This months topic, Mayan Calendars: Myths and Meanings, will be presented by Westminster College professor, Peggy Cain.

Cain will delve into how and why the Mayans developed numerous and accurate calendars. The core of this lecture will explore the meaning of the calendar system in ancient and modern Mayan belief systems and what Mayans are saying about December 21st, 2012.

Night School sessions are hosted in the Hansen Dome Theatre, and are followed by light refreshments in the Third Floor Exhibits area. Admission is $2. Members are free. Get your tickets today for Night School: we’ll “school” you in science.
