greg_red_elkMIDWAY, UTAH (June 6, 2013) — The Soldier Hollow Legacy Foundation will host a three-day powwow in Utah June 14-16. The Heber Valley Pow Wow allows top dancers, drummers and singers, primarily from the Western United States, to compete for nearly $10,000 in cash prizes.

The annual Pow Wow, which also includes a Mountain Man Rendezvous, gets underway Friday, June 14, at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until the winners are announced at 4 p.m.

Unique to the Heber Valley Pow Wow and Mountain Man Rendezvous are special demonstration sessions where Native American dancers and singers demonstrate dancing and drumming, and Mountain Men demonstrate fire starting, all with explanations of the traditions and meanings of these activities. The powwow also provides Native American families the opportunity to conduct appropriate ceremonies and share their experiences.

Admission starts at $7, and family passes are available for $20.
