November Events at The Ogden Nature Center

PlantTroughHypertufa Plant Trough Workshop
Saturday, November 2, 9-11:30 am
Taught by Gayle Allen, plantsman extraordinaire and owner of The Rock Garden
$40 members / $45 nonmembers

After our summer garden tour, Gayle Allen had so many requests for his fabulous plant troughs that he agreed to teach a class on how to make them! With a mixture of peatmoss, cement and perlite, you’ll form your own hypertufa plant trough. These planters imitate volcanic rock. They look modern and organic and are gorgeous planted with succulents, miniature alpine plants, hens & chicks or any other combination of plants.  The finished size of the planter will be approximately 10x14x6”.  Please bring a large Tupperware container to mix your ingredients in (approx. 20x16), rubber gloves and a mask or bandana.  Class size is limited to 10 participants. Recycled Wool Mittens Workshop

Ages: 12+
Create the perfect winter accessory to give as a gift or for yourself.  These stylish winter mittens are warm, cozy and earth friendly.  Bring your sewing machine and scissors and we will walk you through the simple art of mitten making from recycled wool.  All other supplies will be provided and you will take home your very own pair of mittens.  Space is limited.  Pre-register by calling 801-621-7595 by Saturday, October 26. 

Turkey Window Pictures
Saturday, November 9, from 1-2 pm
$2 members / $4 nonmembers (includes admission)
Ages: 5+
Join an Ogden Nature Center naturalist as we uncover Turkey facts and create a Turkey window picture just in time for Thanksgiving decorations. Pre-register by calling 801-621-7595 by Thursday, November 7.

Scout Saturdays

Cost: $5 per scout
The Ogden Nature Center provides the perfect outdoor classroom for scout activities.  Have an ONC teacher/naturalist help your scout pass off badge requirements during one of our 45-minute workshops.  Reservations and a non-refundable deposit required. Annual Meeting

Ogden Nature Center members are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Ogden Nature Center.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Pre-school Discovery Days -- Skin, Scales and Reptile Tales

Discover the slimy and scaly critters that call the Nature Center home as we investigate reptiles and amphibians up close. Meet a Desert Tortoise, play lizard games and make a snake craft to take home.

Did you know that trees are some of nature’s best timekeepers? Take a short hike with an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist and practice your leaf peeping skills as you discover how and why leaves change color.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Large ears that never stop moving...  antlers that grow back every year...  the ability to run at speeds over 45 miles per hour... What is it?  Mule Deer!  Join us for a  program all about one of the most fascinating mammals that call Utah and the Ogden Nature Center home.  Search for live deer and play a fun and educational game all about this antlered animal.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.

BigTurkey!Wild Wednesdays -- Gobble, Gobble!  Wild Turkeys

Are you a natural gobbler?  Test your gobbling skills
against the Ogden Nature Center’s two resident turkeys (appropriately named Tom, and Tommy).  The more you learn about these unique birds the faster you’ll discover there is more to the turkey than meets the palate.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.

  1. I come to this restaurant weekly to eat my favorite burger. The price is slightly high but the service is great and the fries accompanied by the burger are great. If there is ever a problem with my food, the staff is more than willing to solve the problem and make sure you are satisfied before you leave.
